Banned Books Set
The five books in this set are some of the best known and well-written classics in the world but also some of the most frequently challenged books by communities and governments. They've been banned for approaching controversial topics including religion, freedom of speech, and on the basis of "moral corruption."
Books inspire us to look at our world with a critical eye and expose us to ideas we otherwise might not have experienced. We felt it was important to bring together some of the most thought-provoking titles of the 20th Century and to celebrate the authors who push us to question and look beyond our worldview, often at great risk to themselves and their craft.
These famous titles, including works like The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, have inspired discussion, debate, and change.
We designed a book band to bring together these novels into one connected set proudly displaying what they have in common while still showing off the iconic original book covers. The book band references redacted text, as a nod to the censorship of the books. Each book band is hand-sewn and printed on archival canvas. The elastic closure ensures easy removal and placement.
The books in this set are published by Little Brown, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Viking, Simon & Schuster, and Modern Library.
