Books Without Borders Set

The world is a complex place. At Juniper Books, we believe that reading literature written by authors from other countries can give us insight and empathy for people with a different experience from our own.

This book set brings together 7 books – novels and short fiction anthologies – written by authors from the countries affected by the 2017 “Travel Ban”: Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan, Yemen, Libya, and Syria. Whatever conclusions you draw about these countries and their people, you can do so on your own after reading these books. The set is grouped together with a book-band inscribed with the word “read” written in some of the languages spoken in the countries.

These are universal stories of love, loss, and hope, but each one is written in a literary style that is unique, and with geographic and cultural references that are steeped in the local cultures. We believe that supporting writers from Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan, Yemen, Libya, and Syria and encouraging reading, writing, the arts, and creativity in all its forms around the world is critically important in this day and age.

$25 for every Books Without Borders Collection sold will be donated to The International Refugee Assistance Project.
