Contemporary Banned Books
Why are books banned? Often it's for religious or political reasons or because the book's contents are deemed too violent or sexual to be "acceptable" for public and school libraries. However, reading a banned book is a learning experience that can offer many life lessons and can help challenge our current views and perspectives.
These five books masterfully explore several key themes and address issues like racism, bullying, violence, police brutality, and offensive language, to name a few. Here at Juniper Books, we urge you to read what makes you uncomfortable and what you don't understand because, in a way, reading everything you can is a way to fight ignorance.
But, don't worry, the hand-sewn book band is completely removable.
